The programs and clinics in the Department of Pediatric Urology are designed to meet the unique needs of children, teens and young adults who have a pediatric urologic condition. Experts from multiple departments work together in these programs and clinics to help our patients and families learn about and manage their health.
Urologic Tumor Program
Children’s Colorado is the only hospital in the Rocky Mountain Region with a dedicated staff of specialists that treat tumors of the kidney, bladder, pelvis and testicles. The pediatric specialists from the Department of Pediatric Urology and the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders work together to provide care from diagnosis to surgical treatment for every patient.
Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery Program
The Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery Program in the Department of Pediatric Urology specializes in providing leading minimally invasive surgical techniques with state-of-the-art technology. Our specially trained surgeons perform the latest surgical procedures that help kids heal faster.
Spinal Defects Clinic
The Department of Pediatric Urology coordinates urologic care for children with spinal defects and spinal cord injury. Patients visit the Spinal Defects Clinic for care from a multidisciplinary team. The Clinic is organized by the Rehabilitation Program in the Orthopedics Institute. The Clinic care team includes specialists from urology, pediatric neurosurgery, pediatric orthopedics, genetics and physical and occupational therapy. As part of the Clinic, the Department of Urology also runs a parent and patient support group for patients who have had a Malone antegrade continence enema (MACE) and a Mitrofanoff procedure.
International Center for Colorectal and Urogenital Care
As the only pediatric colorectal program in the western United States, this program combines the expertise of pediatric surgeons and pediatric urologists. All physicians are board-certified and trained to care for anorectal malformations in children.
SOAR Clinic (Sexual Development Outcomes Achieving Results)
This specialized sexual development clinic brings together experts in endocrinology, psychology, adolescent gynecology, urology and genetics. The team works together in providing evaluations, medical management, counseling, support and education to families affected by a disorder of sexual development (DSD). In association with the Clinic, the Department of Pediatric Urology runs a parent and patient support group.
The Stone Center
The Stone Center provides kids with bladder and kidney stones treatment. The Center combines the expertise of pediatric urologists and the extensive knowledge of pediatric nutritionists and pediatric nephrologists.
Bedwetting and Enuresis (BE) Program
The Bedwetting and Enuresis (BE) Program cares for children with conditions such as daytime wetting, nighttime wetting and recurrent urinary tract infections. A pediatric nurse practitioner and a physician assistant manage our BE Program. Together, they diagnose and treat children experiencing urinary accidents during the day and night, as well as urinary frequency, urinary urgency, painful urination and recurrent urinary tract infections after potty training.
